For everyone who loves adding more depth to your battles, this is the highlight for you. Fomar0153 has been making MZ plugins that give us all sorts of new battle options, from adding global battle events to giving party members new ways to learn skills to even throwing extra weapons at the enemy!

Fomar0153 has brought all new features to MZ with his plugins, giving us awesome new ways to create our perfect battle system. First up, let’s take a look at his AP System and some of the related plugins. The AP System brings a new type of experience into our games, meaning that we can have our players look forward to more than just leveling up and getting items from battles. Using it together with his Equipment Skill System gives us a unique way to teach party members new skills. So instead of players waiting for a level up to see what new skill their favorite character gets, they can choose to use a weapon that will teach the perfect new spell!

Equipment isn’t the only way to learn new skills though. Fomar0153’s Skill Buy System lets us use AP to buy our party members the skills we want them to have. Have a party full of mages but don’t want them to all use the same fireball spell in battle? Then set up the Learn Skill section to have a selection of different elemental skills so the players can choose for themselves which spells each mage can use. This plugin also lets us set high-level skills up to require learning other skills before getting access to those high-level ones, which is perfect for creating skill trees or just keeping players from buying the ultimate attack right from the start!

New ways to learn skills aren’t the only type of plugins Fomar0153 has written though. He’s also created Global Battle Events, which gives us an easy way to run a battle event for every troop without needing to copy and paste it over and over again. We can of course use it to deliver a message from our favorite pig before battle, but there’s so many other ways we could use it to make our battles more interesting. We could set up a random chance at the start of battles to give our party an extra buff or affect the entire enemy troop with a rage state if the battle lasts too long. We can add any battle event we want to all our troops, without having to worry about changing each troop separately if we need to tweak the event.

For those of us who always seem to end up with way too many extra weapons, his Throw Command plugin is perfect! Instead of lugging around all those weapons with the hopes of maybe getting a few coins for them at the next shop, this plugin gives us the option to chuck them right at our enemies! Now we can get another use out of those weak daggers that all the goblins in our games drop, all while giving our players another useful skill in battles. Don’t worry about a player accidentally throwing away the ultimate Dragon Blade though, since all it takes is a simple notetag to make a weapon unthrowable.

And if you’ve been holding off on working on the game of your dreams because you can’t use your favorite Ace-sized tileset, your wait is over! The Change Tile Size plugin lets us swap out the 48 pixel-sized MZ tiles for the ones we want, so our games can rock those highly detailed 64 pixel tilesets or go old school with some tiny tiles. Since this plugin uses two versions of the tileset we choose, one for the editor and one for in-game, we don’t need to worry about parallax mapping to use our different tile size  and can do it all right in MZ!

If any of these plugins piqued your interest, go check out Fomar0153 on the forum and see what other ones he’s come up with!
